Mr. Robert Wertz has more than 20 years of law enforcement experience in the State of Michigan, including 14 years with the Michigan State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVED). During his service with the Michigan State Police CVED, he conducted compliance reviews, investigations, safety audits, post-crash inspections, and regulatory enforcement activities involving motor carriers to evaluate compliance with applicable federal, state, and local transportation laws and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs). In addition, Mr. Wertz has more than 8 years of private-sector experience as a Safety Director and Fleet Manager.

Mr. Wertz’s background encompasses extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local transportation regulations, safe motor carrier operations, OSHA compliance, MSHA compliance, CMV and equipment safety, size and weight compliance, cargo securement, safe loading and unloading practices, hazardous materials transportation, driver qualification, CDL compliance, and the safe operation of commercial motor vehicles. He also has extensive experience in driver recruitment, qualifications, hiring, training, supervision, evaluation, retention, and ongoing monitoring of commercial motor vehicle drivers throughout the course of their employment. Mr. Wertz has further experience in conducting accident and incident investigations, utilizing regulatory review and root cause analysis to identify contributing factors and evaluate compliance with applicable safety standards.

Additionally, Mr. Wertz has maintained a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for more than 30 years and has practical experience operating commercial motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state and federal requirements, including the transportation of oversized and overweight loads.
